Business meeting:
- Financial report: total $10399.66 Katie Cissell registration website. Checking account in Wisconsin. Membership. $650 3-years. $250 per year.
- Membership report: 66 members, look at reflecting membership not by region
- Election process: Announced election of Cee Gandolfo as president and Martha Garber as secretary
- By laws: Executive counsel provided suggestions to revise bylaw recommendation. The membership made several suggestions for revisions including revisions to Bylaw IV section 1.2 replacing “platform” with “bio and statement of intent”; section 1.5. replacing “treasurer or secretary will alternate counting” with “president will appoint an alternate to count”; section 1.6 replace “in June” with “30 days after election is complete” ; and, section 1.7 replacing “by July 1” with “following the annual meeting” Recommendation 4. Raised a lot of discussion as many members were uncomfortable with the special levy language in Bylaw VII Section1.3. Action Items: The Governing Board will revisit group recommendations re changes to bylaws. The Bylaws will be sent to membership for vote.

Laura Owens APSE President presented on APSE competencies & certification process. Professionalize employment support professional. C-crest has been hired to shepherd the process. APSE requested ACRE membership to assist in writing questions for the test. APSE received funds from Minnesota Winn, Indiana, Arkansas, and Louisiana and will pilot test in these states. Will be global first Jan 2012; need a new board for this process who cannot be involved in the training of potential participants. APSE is reviewing qualifications for to be eligible for the test including allowing portfolio as they are considering experience over degrees along with the test, requirements. At this point the initial participants will receive a 3-year Certification with possible requirement of retesting at the end of 3 years. Judi Goldston will chair APSE ACRE competence committee for ACRE
Each of the 12 organizations present provided round robin updates of activities and offerings.
Discussion of online approaches was conducted.

Committee Updates:
Website: Received a bid from San Diego for new website--33% indirect costs. Plan A: $35,300 Plan B: reduces data base $16,000. Membership agreed that we need other bids before deciding.
Employment certificates: Have been meeting and will continue to meet to review competencies. They will be working with APSE. Judi Goldston is chairing this competency committee.
Management/supervisory certificates: No Meeting/No Report. Committee on hold.
New committee: Curriculum Committee: Tyler Paris, David Hagner, and Melanie Jordan. Chair was to be appointed at first meeting. Gayann will meet with group to frame charge and appoint a chair.

- We need to express the benefits of joining ACRE
- Pursue advanced or professional level training-not necessarily 40 hours
- Certify shorter advanced training options
- Need to simplify and explain process for submitting training curriculum for certification for new members
- Make ACRE the place to share materials with members
- Make the names of ACRE certified curricula available
- Define the benefits for ACRE membership on the website and publicize ACRE
- Identify guidelines for professional level courses
- Develop distance learning committee
- Keep updated on APSE certificate process
- Website: look for other resources for website development
- Assure interaction with APSE regarding the CESP exam and provide input to APSE for the development of the process (insure that ACRE info is relevant and acted upon by APSE)
- Recruit new blood into ACRE (younger folks with new ideas)
- Define ACRE’s role in the APSE certification process
- Increase committee activity during the year
- Influencing or combining forces with APSE on certification process
- Think about public policy- write position papers on: Employment First, Sub Minimum wage
- Create an option for self-directed education
- Collaborate on a succession planning curriculum
- Post competencies for management/leadership
- Outreach to current membership: communication, updates, resources and collaborations
- Outreach to current membership for increased involvement
- Investigate relationships with College of Direct Support (Employment Specialist Certificate)
- Create a stronger identity for ACRE: who are we? What do we do?
- Create a process for determining annual budget and spending plan for ACRE money
- Create fundraising plan
- Determine who is missing from the ACRE table and invite them to join
- Reach out to the members who were not at the meeting
- Host quarterly membership phone calls to create momentum and provide update
- Encourage committees to be chaired by members and report to board.
