​Before ACRE

​There were no consistent standards or expectations for training which meant inequity in the services and outcomes people received and a lack of professionalism of the field.

The ACRE Story

A little background on who we are and how we came to be.

1970's

​What is now ACRE, (then AECRP) began as a Community of Practice (largely of Rehabilitation Educators), discussing current and emerging training practices for employment.  Trainer Talks continue today.

1990's

Discussions about Employment Core Competencies began.

2001-2004

ACRE & APSE both  work on Core Competencies - ASPE creating a credentialing exam (CESP) to certify people & ACRE endorsing training curriculum as meeting core competency standards.

2018

ACRE added customized supported employment core competencies and training endorsement.

 Through a rigorous review process, ACRE endorses curricula  as meeting supported and customized core competency standards in knowledge and skill, provides nationally recognized training certificates, and brings together a community of trainers and like-minded people to share and learn from each other.

APSE

Association of People Supporting Employment First

APSE credentials professionals in the field through the nationally recognized Credentialed Supported Employment Professionals (CESP) Exam and continuing education requirements.
